A three day–long Faculty Orientation Program Fall 2019 was held at North South University (NSU) on
17, 18 and 19 September 2019 organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The
orientation program was attended by new faculty members from different departments.
At the beginning of the orientation program, the Director of IQAC Prof. Dr. Nazmun Nahar delivered
the welcome address to the new faculty members. Vice Chancellor of NSU Prof. Atiqul Islam in his
speech underscored the importance of faculty training program and discussed about the roles and
responsibilities of a teacher. Pro-Vice Chancellor of NSU Prof. Dr. Ismail Hossain emphasized on
effective teaching methods and inclusiveness in the classroom environment where all students get
necessary attention from the faculty members.
In the span of three days, there were different sessions focusing on administrative rules and
regulations at NSU, teaching and learning philosophy, Outcome Based Education (OBE) system,
Blooms Taxonomy, research opportunities at NSU, effective communication and delivery and related
issues. There was a special segment on the usage of library resources and IT Services at NSU
It is the mission of IQAC to establish and nurture an environment at NSU that is congenial to quality
teaching and learning. The new faculty orientation program helps in fulfilling that mission. The
program ended with vote of thanks from the IQAC director and the participants also thanked NSU
authority for such an initiative.
