Inauguration Ceremony of “Governance Challenge 2020” held at North South University


The first private university and the number one ranked private university of Bangladesh, North South
University (NSU) in association with Ethics and Diversity Club, North South University Organized
Inauguration Ceremony of “Governance Challenge 2020” at North South University (NSU) on Tuesday,
25 February, 2020, in its own campus, Bashundhara. This is one of the biggest student competitions.
Already more than 200 groups of students from different universities have formed to participate in this
challenge. The final of this competition will occur in April 2020.

Mr. Md. Tazul Islam, MP, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development
and Co-operatives, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was present as the Chief
Guest during the program. Mr. Z. I. Mamun, Chief Executive Editor, ATN Bangla, Mr. Imdadul Haq
Milan, Novelist and The Editor of the daily newspaper Kaler Kantho and Freedom Fighter Lion Mr.
Benajir Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Trustees, North South University were present as Special
Guests. Professor Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of North South University presided over the session.

Speaking as the Chief Guest, Mr. Md. Tazul Islam said, People own the country. People have made
law. The judiciary will judge by that law. The function of Governance is to help the government.
Governance is governed by the implementation of the commitments. In the meantime, he said, the
father of Bengali nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, just did not make Bangladesh
independent; he also dreamed of the country and started working to fulfill that dream. Finally, he added,
we can change the country by working together.

Speaking as the Special Guest, Mr. Imdadul Haq Milan said, What Bangladesh has achieved so far
now is achieved through young society. Young people change countries. Therefore, the change of
country is possible through young society. He also said, If a person can change himself, that person
can change his family, society, and country. The change will start from within yourself.

Chairman, Board of Trustees, North South University, Mr. Benajir Ahmed said, There are 22 Student
Clubs at North South University. The ‘Ethics and Diversity’ club is significant among them. The slogan
of today’s event is “Change Bangladesh”. I believe that young people can change Bangladesh and
build Sonar Bangla of Bangabandhu.

Among others, Mr. M. A. Kashem and Mr. M. A. Hashem, Members of Board of Trustees, NSU,
Pro Vice-Chancellor of NSU, Professor Dr. M. Ismail Hossain, Deans of different schools, Directors
of various departments, Department Heads, senior officials, teachers and students were also present
at the program.
